A Guide to Surrealism Art With Respect to Salvador Dali Arts
Surrealism is a visual art and literature movement that primarily expanded in Europe between World War I and World War II. The art was a reaction to the destruction caused by 'rationalism', which guided European culture and politics and led to the horrors of World War 1. Salvador Dali arts are a part of the movement.
The Inspiration For Surrealism
Surrealism art draws heavily from the theories of
Sigmund Freud and focused on the exploration of subconscious thoughts using
various techniques like:
1. automatic drawing,
2. spontaneous and uncensored chaotic images that
come to the artist's consciousness
3. Exquisite corpse includes drawing one part of the
human body, folding the paper, and then passing it on to the next artist who
adds the next part. This is a collective composition.
An Insight into Salvador Dali Art
Surrealism does not have a unified style. In the
works of Salvador Dali, the realistically painted images are taken away from
their normal context and reassembled in an ambiguous, paradoxical, or shocking
framework.
